Do you want to take ownership of a brand-new API platform and bring a ready-made design to life in production? Do you get energy from CI/CD, cloud-native development and pushing back on solution design when you see a better way? And are you looking for an assignment where you stay hands-on while shaping the technical direction? Then read on.

Where will you be working?

You'll be working at a large organisation in the telecom sector that is building a new API platform to host services for B2B customers, based on international industry standards. The PoC and solution design are ready — your job is to take it into production. The platform runs on a modern container-based environment, with strict requirements around security, authentication and integration. The setting is technically complex and stakeholder-rich: you'll work closely with the Technical Platform Lead, Solution Architect, an internal API gateway team and adjacent platform teams. Working language is English.

What are your core tasks?

As Lead Developer you take end-to-end ownership of the technical delivery. You own the CI/CD pipelines (deployment, testing, plugins) and build production-grade APIs with a strong focus on authentication and security. You ensure integration with the central API gateway and connect the platform to other internal environments. The first month is about platform setup; after that you build microservices and APIs in parallel. You actively contribute to the solution design and challenge it where you see opportunities to improve.

What are we looking for?

  • Senior or Lead-level experience with hands-on DevOps and platform engineering
  • Strong in CI/CD ownership, Kubernetes-based platforms and pipeline-based testing
  • Proven experience building production-grade APIs, including authentication (OAuth 2.0, JWT) and security
  • Knowledge of API gateway patterns and integration design
  • Track record of taking a platform from concept to production
  • Proactive mindset: you bring ideas, take ownership and challenge the solution design where needed

Nice to have: telecom domain experience, exposure to international API standards or GitOps practices.

What do we offer?

  • Start: as soon as possible
  • Duration: ~6 months with option to extend
  • Hours: 36–40 hours per week (preferably 40)
  • Rate: to be discussed
  • Location: hybrid, mostly Utrecht
