Are you an experienced Senior Java Developer with strong knowledge of Jakarta, JBOSS, and heavy traffic environments? Do you enjoy working in a small team where communication, ownership, and problem-solving are just as important as coding? Then this could be your next assignment.

 

For one of our clients in the Dutch banking sector, we are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join a defined project in the Utrecht region. The assignment runs until the end of 2026 and starts around mid-July 2026.

Where will you be working?

You will be working for a values-driven Dutch banking institution in the Utrecht region. You will work in a focused team with a lot of personal responsibility. The environment is structured, regulated, and compliance-heavy, so we are looking for someone who is comfortable working within existing processes and technical constraints.

What are your core tasks?

In this role, you will work as a Senior Java Developer on payment-related integrations. The project focuses on modern payment solutions, including functionality that allows customers to receive money through an email address or phone number instead of only through an IBAN.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Developing backend solutions using Java and Jakarta EE
  • Working with JBOSS / WildFly as the application server
  • Contributing to a backend-heavy role, with some frontend involvement
  • Working on integrations related to modern payment services
  • Discussing technical challenges with the team before starting development
  • Scoping problems clearly and choosing the right technical approach
  • Maintaining and improving existing systems within the client’s technical environment
  • Working independently while keeping the team involved

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Minimum 7+ years of Java development experience
  • Strong experience with Jakarta EE, Java EE or J2EE
  • Experience with JBOSS or WildFly
  • A pragmatic mindset and the ability to work within existing constraints
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented way of working
  • Experience with regulated or structured environments, such as banking, insurance, government, or pension funds
