Blairi Schermer

Account Manager (Back-End)

Picture leading the way in building and running Kubernetes platforms that keep the Internet stable and secure. You’ll bring structure and best practices to a highly skilled engineering team, while staying open-minded about new tools and approaches. Work from home when it suits you, or collaborate on-site with your international teammates. This is your chance to shape critical infrastructure and guide others along the way.

What are your core tasks?

As senior engineer, you’ll take responsibility for building and maintaining our next-generation Kubernetes platform, using GitOps to deploy and manage clusters. You’ll migrate applications, design robust monitoring and logging, and ensure our Red Hat-based Linux systems run smoothly. You’ll also work with Kubernetes management platforms like Rancher or similar. After six months, you’ll join the 24/7 standby rotation (extra pay on top of your salary). Beyond the technical work, you’ll bring structure, share best practices and mentor colleagues.

What are we looking for?

You combine deep Kubernetes expertise with a structured mindset. You come from environments where best practices are the norm, but you’re not tied to one tool or technology. You’re ready to take technical lead responsibilities within the team.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing Kubernetes clusters, including on-prem.
  • Proven GitOps experience.
  • Familiar with Kubernetes management platforms such as Rancher (or similar).
  • Solid experience with Linux (Red Hat-based) and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to guide and mentor teammates.

What do we offer?

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Salary based on the experience.
  • Extra pay for 24/7 standby shifts.
  • 33 days of paid holiday (full-time) plus paid parental leave.
  • Non-contributory pension scheme and top-tier health insurance for you and your family.
  • 5% end-of-year allowance and annual personal budgets for health, transport and tech.
  • Flexible hybrid working, with options to work abroad for a limited time.
  • A modern, international workplace with healthy lunches, barista coffee, and regular team drinks.
  • A generous yearly training budget to keep your skills sharp.

You’ll be working directly for a leading not-for-profit organisation that plays an important role in the governance and operation of the Internet. With a diverse, international workforce of over 180 colleagues from 40+ countries, this organisation values openness, collaboration and community. The contract of employment will be with them — WannaFlex supports you in the process and ensures a smooth recruitment journey.
